URGE
NT APPEAL!
People in Chama district in the Eastern Province are starving.
Chama North Member of Parliament, Honourable Yotam Mtayachalo, has appealed to the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit to urgently provide relief food. Many are not covered under the Cash-for-Work Programme, leaving them without any source of income to buy food. Crop yields have dropped sharply. People are eating roots and wild fruit trying to survive. There just isn’t enough. The hunger crisis is coming at a critical time when farmers are supposed to prepare their fields for the 2025/2026 farming season. Without food, people cannot be productive.
We are joining with another local organization, Youth Life Project, to pool resources to help this community. Our food outreach together is planned for December 12th. It costs roughly $35 per family to provide the following – 25kg of mealie meal/ corn meal, 2.5 L of cooking oil, 25kg grams of soya pieces. Our next outreach is December 12th.

How to get involved:
You can serve as a student intern working in NGOs, government orgs, and faith-based groups we assist in your area of study. Applications are open for 2026 now here! Limited spots available!
You can serve as a professional offering trainings in your area of expertise. Your church can serve on a short term trip. You can answer the call of God into missionary service.
You can sponsor a child to school. You can give towards our trainings and outreaches.
Child sponsorship:
Our child sponsorship program focuses on poor families in rural villages. This is special to our hearts, as our staff Kelvin is from such an area, walking 10km to/from school each day as a child. Our program director, Nanyemba was also a sponsored child when she was small. We personally know the value of child sponsors to change lives. There are 3 terms in the Zambian school calendar. Letter exchanges are also 3 times a year. While these children are often from single-parent homes, living in poverty situations, or struggling with special education needs – we are inspired by their tenacity, their future dreams, and their hunger for education. Capacity Building:
CoLaborers International has given professional trainings for Zambian-led organizations to increase their capacity in various areas – such as in small business skills, in drug and alcohol curriculum, in seamstress skills, in carpentry, and in a specially developed education curriculum for street children.
Most notable of these trainings was in 2018 June when we trained 40+ Zambian NGOs in a culturally appropriate and scientifically valid curriculum “Literacy-Free 12 Step Expressive Arts Therapy” aimed at helping addicted youth and adults. This was approved by Zambia’s Ministry of Health and was also done in collaboration with Rotary International Foundation, including local Rotary of Lusaka Central. A clinical study followed trained organizations as they delivered it to their communities with amazing results. See it published in scientific journal Addictive Behaviors Reports here.
Since then, we have also provided training for many nonprofits and faith-based organizations serving their communities including Chainama Hospital (2018 & 2023), organizations with the Drug Enforcement Commission (2023),a nd Ndola Central Hospital (2024).
