Charity Event Fundraisers

WHY PLAN A CHARITY EVENT?

1) To Give People an Opportunity to Serve:

You can reach out to your school, community, and at your church by planning an event. Your event will mobilize people to connect with overseas projects by signing up to use their talents to meet needs in real ways. A significant portion of CoLaborers International volunteers and volunteer staff first connected with us at a student event.

2) To Meet a Specific Overseas Need:

Events provide a distinct opportunity to GIVE to meet a specific need – like providing HIV AIDS medicines for medical camps, Bibles for church plants, water filters for villages, etc. So be sure that it has some way of fundraising – love offerings, ticket sales, admission fees, item sales, etc… We will follow up after the event you what your donations bought, send pictures, and a thank you. It’s a more personalized approach because we appreciate all the help we get!

3)  It is FUN!

Student events are some of the most fun events we go to! It’s enjoyable and there’s such an energy when you get a bunch of people together to share their talents and do something they believe in! The “fun” element is just as important as the planning element – because having fun is what attracts many people to come in the first place!

HOW TO GET STARTED

1) Pick your event type. Events can be as diverse as you are – incorporating music, food, art, dance, sports, a love offering, anything. Use your event to showcase the talents of your fellow students.

2) Contact us about what specific need you would like to help with so you can set a financial goal for the event.

3) Pick 2 or 3 people to start helping you plan. Set a date at least 2-3 months away. Pick a place. Advertise. Reach out to other student groups that may be interested in participating, planning, performing, or offering assistance on the day/night of the event. Download Resources that may be helpful to your event.

4) Contact us if you would like a CoLaborers International representative to come to your event to speak.

5) After you’ve planned everything, have fun! Designate someone to snap photos and videos. Then, when the event is over, you have them as mementos to share with everyone involved. Also, be sure to send them to us and we will share them with the overseas projects your event supported and on the website to inspire more people with your story! Photos and videos give an event twice the impact!

“From this experience, I really learned how God can use me to make a difference in peoples’ lives. I remember before when I was planning this, I was really doubting myself. I had never planned a benefit concert before. I had never planned anything like this. I thought, “I don’t know how I’m going to do this”. But I put my trust in God and realized this was my opportunity… to help people less fortunate than me.

So I decided to trust God and the outcome was amazing. I never thought we’d get such a huge show out for the show! God can use us all in different ways, we just have to make ourselves available to Him. I’m just a regular student just going after my degree, trying to seek God. You can accomplish a lot! We are making a difference in these kids’ lives and in the orphanage and I never thought I would be able to do something like that. So, don’t doubt yourself and put your trust in God!”
