Church

Heather Moreno has been a good friend since college. Since graduating, she’s been just as on fire as ever. She and her husband David lead outreaches at her church, Difference Makers’.

They also reach out through their ministry, Justice Revolution. They’ve been taking their church members on short term missions trips overseas, as well as getting them to act locally to reach out.

Heather and David been a supporters for CoLaborers International also, uplifting us in prayer and inviting us to speak at her church and at Justice Revolution’s Kingdom Justice Conference every year.

“Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12

Hearing about projects that CoLaborers International assists overseas, she and some of the littlest members of her church were touched to get involved.

Their children’s class decided to take time each week for a month to learn about what God is doing through the Hope for India Project and the Love Maputo Project and also used the children’s resources we sent them.

These little ones began to pray for the needs of the children in Mozambique and India many of which are their same age. The children also decided to put their weekly offering towards helping meet physical needs of the children being reached by the projects. They plan to continue in prayer for the international projects overseas.

The children wrote letters, drew pictures and send photos of themselves to the children being reaching by the projects overseas as well.

Not only did the children being reached by the Love Maputo Project and Hope for India Project receive the letters, but they wrote back! Now, these children pray for each other and the world has become that much smaller. It’s the Body of Christ in action, beginning at any age.

Little children making a big difference in God’s kingdom.

“Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the  kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.” Matthew 18:2-5

In reflection of this, I’m reminded of the widow who gave her last two mites to the church, mites that she had need of herself, but gave anyways. A woman who gave all she had to God – ignoring the belittling of others and giving her all to the Lord because she loved Him. I’m reminded of the boy with the 5 loaves and 2 fishes. A lunch that would be enough for just one child, but when given to Jesus – it fed the multitudes.

Over and over again in the Bible and today, Jesus takes the little things we give and uses them greatly to help others. He takes the small amount we can contribute and uses it to touch more than we can imagine. So, even if you don’t think you have much to give, give it. Even if you only have 1 talent, don’t hide it. Use it for the Lord and see what comes of it.

“It has been incredible to see a pure heart of compassion being nurtured in these children.  Instead of spending their allowance on candy and video games, these kids are giving to those they’ve never met before, children across the world…because they’re understanding what Jesus meant when He said to feed the hungry and clothe the naked.  It’s the simple gospel being preached by this young generation, not only in words but in action.”
