Christy Ritchlin was studying graphic design at Salisbury University. She wanted to utilize her artistic talents for more than just creating beauty. She wanted to use her skills to create change.

Inspired by the work we assist overseas and our pressing call to action in using your own talents to help – she designed a street art piece depicting Jesus’ hands reaching out to another’s.

Beneath these hands, in a spray stencil effect, is our theme verse for radical love from 1 John 4:7-11:

“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, For God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation of our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”

Christy using her art for the Lord’s work blessed us and it blessed her personally as well. Her work on this poster drew out new strengths in her, impressed her art professors and was picked to be in the senior art show at Salisbury.

“I was really happy with this because I’ve never done anything like this before. My professor was really impressed with this. I had a lot of illustrations that I did but I wasn’t really making any big breakthroughs. My professor came back to me and said, ‘ I’m really proud of you ‘.””

Art is a beautiful tool that the Lord has given to challenge people to see and act, to touch the heart and bring motivation. It’s every bit as important in outreach, rallying people together and bringing vision as any other gift from God.

“The main reason I got into graphic design was to help people and also to use the artistic gifts that God gave me. It’s a good way of evangelizing in an artistic way.” – CHRISTY You can use your art to make a difference like Christy did.

Pray for God to open your eyes to how you can give to help the people being reached by overseas projects and begin living your calling right now!
